OUR HISTORY

Magnat has a rich history rooted in a passion for sound engineering and design. Founded in 1973 in Germany, the company quickly gained recognition for producing high-quality loudspeakers, emphasizing innovation and precision. Over the years, Magnat has expanded its product range to include amplifiers, subwoofers, and home theater systems. 

1973

The company is founded by Rainer Haas. His father was the importer of Goodmann speakers in the late 1960s, in Germany.

1974

Magnat launches the innovative log series and establishes itself on the international loudspeaker market.

1979

The omni-directional plasma tweeter with no mass membrane makes a worldwide sensation.

1981

The legendary and very successful All-Ribbon series introduced in 1981.

1983

Magnat manufactures the first car audio loudspeaker system (Car 5)

1990's

Magnat moves from Cologne to Pulheim. In the new premises, engineers fulfil their long-cherished desire to establish a total of five test rooms with the most modern equipment, such as a klippel® laser measuring system.

1995

After long years of development, the first Magnat Vintage high-end loudspeaker systems are launched. (Vintage Series)

2001

At the turn of the millennium, Magnat presents the most elaborate Magnat speaker of all time. The ultimate high-end Vintage 990 loudspeaker remains a unique product in the company’s history up to the present day.

2013

Magnat is celebrating its 40th anniversary and is thanking its customers with two great new state-of-the-art products! RV 3 + Quantum Signature.

2015

The world’s first THX ultra2-certified loudspeaker system that features an LCR speaker approved for vertical and horizontal orientations.

2019

Launch of the new Signature 900, Signature 700 and Signature 500 series. With this series Magnat addresses all budgets.

2023

Magnat is part of the Premium Audio Company & celebrates its 50th anniversary.

2024

Launch of the new Signature Series: Signature 999, Signature 809, Signature 607, Signature 603, Signature Edelstein, Center Pro, ATM 202 and Omega CS12.

2025

A complete brand modernization with a refreshed website, a new identity and logo, and inspiring new visuals and videos that reflect the essence of Magnat.
